67-year-old, fit Scottish woman, still happily refusing to behave her age. I enjoy hiking, although these days my main passion is fishing, which I do most days, weather and water permitting. Basically, if there’s water, I’ll probably be sitting beside it with a fishing rod.
I’m rather partial to peace and quiet and have very little tolerance for background noise. Unless, of course, it’s the sound of a fish jumping on my line. That particular noise is music to my ears and may result in me abandoning all conversation immediately.
I’m also a great believer in giving animals a second chance. I once rescued a dog at six months old who had been badly beaten by his previous owners and had a broken leg. I’d actually gone to the rescue centre looking for a dog who could accompany me on my long 30 km walks. For the first two years, however, he was restricted to two ten-minute walks a day while he recovered. Once he was finally fit, he became my constant walking companion and stayed by my side for the rest of his life.
Clearly, patience pays off because the old boy eventually reached the grand old age of 16, by which point he had more mileage on his legs than some small cars.
I love music, nature, pétanque and pretty much anything that involves being outdoors. I’m happiest somewhere surrounded by trees, water, wildlife and preferably very few people making unnecessary noise.
I also have two rescue cats, who naturally believe that the entire house, garden and possibly the planet belong to them. I merely provide accommodation and catering. ??????????????????
